I went to your website. I'm curious. Did you ever get ALL the noise out of your Diff. with the top up? I mean no noise at all. Also, I had to do my trans twice due to grind. The problem was, nobody at that time wanted to come up with the dollars to make a good sychro ring. Since then, one supplier in GB had good ones made, at least I haven't had a problem yet. Thats the only ring I would use, except NOS.

Well as far as the diff noise, its a little relative. I'm running poly diff mounts underneath and they transmit a fair amount of road noise themselves. But the whine at 55mph that I spoke of on my website is gone; the problem turned out of be a bad bearing which was fixed free of charge (save one way shipping costs and the hassle of taking it out and reinstalling it).

My gearbox still grinds on fast 2-3 shifts, I was told that would go away, but nothing so far. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif

Thanks for the tip on the syncros.. do you where I can source a set? I'm thinking about rebuilding my old gearbox myself. I've already emailed RevingonTR for help on sourcing some hi-po parts for the rebuild since I know he offers stage 1 and 2 versions of fast street gearboxes.

Thanks!

Ok, here we go, it is my understanding the good rings I put in my gearbox came from the place you mentioned in England, and were made in Germany for them. These rings are available in the US, but be careful of counterfeits. When were the rings in your gearbox now put in, how long ago? The problem with the rings I first used was as you described, if you shift at say 3k, you get a grind from 2-3 or 3-2. I was told by a rebuilder in the Fatherland, don't use new rings, use old, if worn, machine face to get proper clearence. Can I send IM to you? If so, how, I do not like to use vendor names in public.

I did not. I've sent you one, see if you get a notification. If you're not configured for auto notifications, click on "My Stuff" at the top of this page and go to "My Messages" to see if it shows up.
