Guess which is the new TRF one?

The old one had the rigidity of wet linguini...

Yuck! Not only does it look terrible on the rubber... but the lower portion appears to be stripped. Least ya got new ones.

Will you do something to protect the hew ones?

I have heard of putting a plastic Ziploc bag over them or coating them with polysulfide rubber (from a marine shop).

Perhaps this is yet another example of aftermarket/repro rubber being inferior to the original formualation -- certianly my mounts (one original, the other very old if not original) are fine. These are the flat TR3/4 mounts though the replacements I have heard suffer a similar fate to that pictured.

Last time I checked my rear transmission mount - I didn't have one. The rubber was competely gone, the overdrive was probably about 1/2" low as a result and the whole thing stayed in place because the two metal pieces of the original mount basically overlap each other. I'm surprised I never saw the gearshift jump as a result, but it seemed relatively stable.

It's amazing what 30W ND oil can do to rubber after a few decades.

On my 8 the mount was there but it had the texture of jelly. I could not beleive it did not ooze out of it spot.
