Last Sunday's Spridget run [pics]

Last Sunday, some locals from an internet message board gathered together at a nearby state park for a generalized cruise (bring whatever you wanted to drive.)

The day started out cloudy, but the weather ended up being perfect, if not a bit warm and sunny.

I got my Sprite out on the divided highway, which it doesn't mind, but seems to keep it at pretty high revs. I was being followed by Tullamore's 66 Sunbeam Tiger

My tach obviously isn't accurate, but the speedometer is pretty close to realistic

My Sprite made it through all of the water crossings (I believe there are 5) down in the canyon of this state park. Canyon is a funny term, living in one of the flattest parts of Iowa /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif My distributor got soaked and my car started sputtering. The passenger's floor had water in it /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif You can see people in the background driving through the drink.

Here's a general photo of the lineup of cars that showed up. We had two motorcycles along for the ride as well

Anyway, we all headed back for home, and the newer cars departed the group. We decided to pick up two of Tullamore's cars (his 69 Sprite and 66 Midget) and go run some of the rural highways before sundown. This turned out to be the best part of the day, having three Spridgets in a row winding down the roadway.

This is Nate behind me in the '66 Midget. He had the 6 spd BMW 540 at the cruise event, so it was quite a change for him I think. He's also about 6.5 feet tall.

Due to the driving style that unraveled in the next hour or so, I don't have any photos to share /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif However, we did stop for some glamour shots out on a quiet drive:

Finally, it was night time, and my non-operative generator demanded that I scoot home before I was driving myself in the dark. She got ridden hard and put away wet that night.

But... Despite the water and oil leaks, it's too fun to leave her parked in the garage!

Nice stuff, great day.

Good pictures...love the glamour shots!

Looks like you had a great day out there --nice Sprite, and a pretty lineup of 3 red Sprites. Good to see them out there driving!

One is a Midget.

Glad to see you posted the pictures, that was a fun day of cruising around in LBCs!

Here are some of the pictures I took of Luke that day.
