TR2/3/3A large /main dash on 61 tr3

Hi all I have question about the studs that hold on the large /main dash on 61 tr3. One of the studs broke off down by the glove box. The body shop was going fix it before painting but there were a lot of little things to do and it got missed. Anyway I have to move carful and was wondering if anyone knows how these studs are fixed? Are they bolted with cages or welded on the back side of the front cowling. There is enough of it sticking out where I could grab it with vise gripes, but I dislike using force on a freshly painted car because if it is welded I would not try.
