Laptop Question

I was downloading an update to the Windows MediaPlayer & decided to cancel partway through....it locked up my computer...so, I went to "Start" - "Turn Off Computer"....

....the thing has now been shutting down for over 2 hours!

I tried just pushing the on/off button - nothing;

I tried "CTL-ALT-Delete" - nothing;

....so, I've unplugged the power cord & am just letting the battery go dead...

Any other ideas?

Press the power button and keep it pressed in for about 6 seconds.
It ~should~ turn off.

Battery finally went dead...restarted computer & everything appears to be working fine

But, I'm not a 'puter guy & am concerned...

you could have just pulled the battery out, I've done that on occasion with mine

Yeah, sometimes you just hafta pull the battery when Windoze gets that confused. Under those conditions, I've never known it to hurt anything. In the worst case, it may want to check the disk when starting back up.

That's a classic case of Windows saying "I'm confused, I'm going around in circles." The only thing I've ever found that worked was pulling the battery out. Then putting it back in and restarting it. Doing this didn't seem to hurt the laptop at all.

Perhaps some computer guru has a better idea. Never did find out why the problem occurred in the first place and didn't even care as it worked normally after the incident.

Hold down the power button. If that doesn't work, pull the battery. It won't do any more harm than letting the battery die on its own.

I do the same, just part of living with windows...

I don't have my battery in right now, and the
laptop works just fine without it...
