Lake of the Ozarks, Latest.

Re: Lake of the Ozarks, up-date.

The price of gas is another reason that I'm not towing.

Re: Lake of the Ozarks, up-date.

I figure, towing, the gas will run just shy of $1000 for me.

How far is the trip for you trevor? Its a long way for me or I would drive too. I think with the Ranger pulling the midget I should get at least 20mpg. I used to get around 17 pulling the camper and it weighed about a ton and had much more aero drag than a spridget behind the pickup.

Surely not that much :eeek: I did a rough figure of 150-200 bucks each way for me. Don't drive 70 jack, drive 55-60 and save 1/3 on fuel and spend that money on beer and food instead of a new castle over in the middle east

Re: Lake of the Ozarks, up-date.

I'm guessing over 100 for this. There are those on other boards talking about it, and those not on any boards talking about it.
I sent a notice out to my local club and came back with 2 definates and one possible.

Re: Lake of the Ozarks, up-date.

Only 450 miles for me, but my only possible tow vehicle is a Ford Escape that gets about 18 MPG towing a spridget. A quite frankly, it doesn't tow it that well (automatic trans)

If I drive my sprite in a sensible fashion I should get 30 MPG. Not a big savings, but every little bit helps. Plus, I'd like to get some road grime on the Ugly Bug to enhance its "theme".

Re: Lake of the Ozarks, up-date.

That is not so bad, I guess. I hope you have good driving weather. I can only imagine me and the wife in the midget with the top up in the rain for 100s of miles. We did a 300 mile trip up to Roanoke VA once in good weather and it was fun. Took the interstate up there and then the parkway home.

Re: Lake of the Ozarks, up-date.

I fully expect you trailering guys to bring plenty of spare parts and tools to help bail out those of us that couldn't fit spare half shafts into our cars.

Re: Lake of the Ozarks, up-date.

Starting after my grandson'e birthday party this weekend, I'm spending 8 hours per day on my car getting it ready - & on my trailer!

Re: Lake of the Ozarks, up-date.

As of today over 50 cars registered for the lake.

Shake it guys, polish those hub caps. hehe.

Re: Lake of the Ozarks, up-date.

I can hardly focus at work. I spend my time thinking about what tools to bring, clothes, mileage per day, where to stay, best time of day and which day to leave, how long it will take to fix Kate's brakes, whether to take 40, and just how stupid it would be to participate in the autocross in a car that has to go 1500 miles afterward.
All this and its only May 21st.

This is why I chose to get a trailer. I didn't want to spend the whole time worring about the trip back. I might have considered a 600 mile trip at the max but 800 is just too far to risk it. I am not going to autocross or anything anyways. I don't have the gearing for that.

Re: Lake of the Ozarks, up-date.

OK,
I waited until the last minute to register to be sure that we could work out all of out scheduling conflicts. I thought I had it sorted out, but then...
1. My Mother (who had graciously offered to watch my children) decided she wanted to return to the work force.
2. One of my wife's college friends decided to have a wedding shower that weekend.

so... I may be driving solo. But I'm still determined to make it.

Re: Lake of the Ozarks, up-date.

Trever,
I'm driving up solo from Alabama and I know Prop will be cruising in solo, so join the "SOLO" club.

'SOLO' club

Solo here as well from Eastern NC. It's not a show car and never has been a 'Trailer Queen'.
