The last spring. Shucks, boy are the front two bolts stuck. Going to stop by sears in the morning on my way back from the commissary and get a couple, short and long, 8 pt sockets that I don't seem to have. The 12 pts not good enough for this job, but worked on other side.
 
Well no excuse for it, but I got to share with someone and you guys at least know what I am going through.

Also hate to long on and find nothing to read or learn.
 
Jack, I'm sure you meant 6 point sockets. Something I learned a long time ago is that 6 point sockets are for hex bolts and nuts, and 12 pt. sockets are for 12 point bolts and nuts, or at least for low torque applications on 6 point stuff.

when I was young and dumb all of my nifty Buffalo tools were stolen (along with my 79 Grand Prix) and I headed down to sears with my insurance money burning a hole in my pocket.

It was a life-changing experience the first time I used a 'proper' 6 point socket on a stuck bolt. It was as if the heavens had opened up and golden light shined down on my poor little car that had been abused with cheap 12-point sockets.

Almost as fantastic as the day I discovered that there are #1 AND #2 phillips screwdrivers.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have several complete sets of 12-point & 6-point...Craftsmen - & they ain't cheap!
 
Only need two scokets, no telling where they went.
 
Look under the car... the very middle. And the hardest place to reach under every workbench. They go there to meet and PLOT against you.
 
Kudos on the 6-point sockets. I've rounded off a few too many bolts with 12-point ones, so if it looks like the bolt might put up a fight, then I get out the 1/2" drive 6-point sockets and the breaker bar. Worth every penny I spent on that set, too.
