I'm considering the purchase of a new Mini Cooper S and would like to get feedback from current owners.

Could anyone suggest a website or chatroom for these cars where I might get info from current owners?

And, does anyone here have one they'd like to talk about?

Thanks for the input!

Hi Mark......there are several Cooper and Cooper 'S' owners on the BCF, although I am not one of them /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

From speaking to people who own these cars there is an overwhelmingly positive response to the Coopers. (Mind you, if all you ever drove before was a Buick, that is not much of a surprise). They are tuneable, and an awful lot of fun to drive. There is also a thriving aftermarket for this car already, and companies such as Moss carry an enormous array of accesories and go-faster goodies for them already.

The biggest gripe that I had heard is that the owner is discouraged from carrying out his (or her) own maintenance and repairs on the cars, which seems to be de-rigeur for BMW. There is no Lucas however, so the need for that is considerably reduced. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

On the whole, it is a great little car, hot setup being an 'S' with the six-speed tranny. My choice would have to be the red with white roof. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have had my '02 S for 2 years and 30000 miles. Still love it. Very happy owner. Anything specific you would like to know?

Red with White roof, of course, is the best color combo...
Forums:

MINI2 is the best. worldwide participation.

Northamericanmotoring.com is a close second with an american spin.

You will find that most people participate in both.

there are also these:

https://forums1.roadfly.org/mini/forums/cooper/

https://www.cooperspeed.com/ (new and not real busy yet)

And a lot of local clubs around the nation have websites.

Alan

Thanks for all the great responses. I've added the above links to my "favorites" menu.

Anyone else know good Mini-related sites?

Cheers!

Its good to pay edmunds.com a visit for information on any new car.

Good luck. If I didn't already drive a Wrangler, I'd be envious! Well, maybe I am a bit envious anyway. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hey !!!!!! Don't forget : https://motoringfile.com

and whiteroofradio.com
Plus, not far away from VA is https://nemini.org

I've had my 02 Cooper S for over 3 years now and still love it!.....Has various tuner goodies and go-fast stuff! The new 05's have better gearing and a bit more Bhp from the get-go! Add together all those websites and you have a lot of information! Remember to read everything with a grain of salt!
I love the new MINI so much, I actually got a part-time job selling them! Mind you, I have owned 17 classic minis - yeah, 17, not all at the same time, but over 25 years or so, and raced one in SCCA GT5 class for 12 years, so I know for Lucas and BMC and all that jazz ...... the new MINI is a very cool product! Many smiles per mile !!!!! feel free to PM me if you have any questions, etc....
aol IM : mini1600
Cheers,
