I have two cylinder heads, one is marked 2A620 and AF2
A53

The other as 2A629 and 21086.

Any ideas???

According to Vizard: 2A629 948 head, 1 1/16" inlet, 1" exhaust 24.5 cc chamber, round port on intake. This is what was, most likley, on Miss Agatha from the factory.

No listing for 2a620. Is this, possibly, 2a628?? If so, it is the same as above.

The first you listed is the better head in my opinion, will go with it.

Thanks for the help.

A nice head for your little A series engine is the 12g202 or 12g295. Both can be found on ebay from time to time for around $35.00 in rebuildable form (plus about the same in shipping!).

Oh K, tell me about the 12g202 and the 12g295 heads?

12G202 was fitted to 997 Coopers, 1098 Austins and Morris's, Midget (Mk1) and Mk2 Sprites.

12G206 and 12G295 were fitted to 998 Coopers, 1098 MG1100's, Mk2 Midgets and Mk3 Sprites.

the 295 is generally considered the best head for a 998 ... and will just bolt on (but needa s cam to make full use of it!)

Maybe I will see one down the road some where.

Jack, when using a 202 or 295 head on a 948, you will have to mill some from the surface to maintain the compression ratio. The stock heads had a chamber volume of 24.5cc. The 202 is 26.1, and the 295 is 28.3.
