I have a 1972 TR6 and the key is stuck in the ignition !
Any words of wisdom before I order a new ignition switch?

Don't take it out! you might not get it back in. Been there done that. You will need a new ignition key cylinder though.

How long has the key been the lock? You may want to use some "liquid Wrench" or that type of lube before you give it up for a new one.

I have tried liquid wrench, lock ease, wiggling, pushing in and out while wiggling. It has made up it's mind it does not want to cooperate. I assume that some little part in the key cylinder is broken or moved or ????? and is caught behind a ridge on the key. Is the cylinder easily removed?

You are a lucky person!
I had a Datsun 510 when I was a kid, went out to a movie on a date in the middle of the winter (-30 F) when we tried to leave the key wouldn't go back into the ignition! Took almost an hour for the AMA (AAA) to get there to rescue us, tow the car to a garage for a new ignition. Very cold to say the least! It was explained to me that the "Tumbler pins had collapsed inside the ignition lock blocking the key way"

Call a local locksmith and explain the problem. A $30 service call might save you a lot of money and heartache over broken parts. You might get lucky and find a guy who likes sports cars or owns one himself.

Thanks for the imput, I will give a locksmith a try.
