No - not an ancient language ... just some of today's brands of dehumidifiers and other small appliances.

Never heard of them.

yikes

Speaking of dehumidifiers, last night I received a recall notice that 2 Million dehumidifiers have been recalled because the units can catch on fire. I immediately went to my basement and unplugged mine.
Here’s the link regarding the recall. If you have a dehumidifier you should check the list to see if your model is included.
Later today I’ll be contacting the manufacturer.

not to make light of it (OK a bit) but you would think as a dehumidifier with a tank it would put itself out.

I copied this off of the recall website (staggering amount of property damage)
"New Widetech is aware of 107 incidents of the recalled dehumidifiers overheating and/or catching fire, resulting in about $17 million in property damage. No injuries have been reported."
As an aside, the label on the unit has the UL (Underwrighters Lab) logo on it. Their logo signifies that it has met their safety standards for fire.

I bought the unit in October of 2015, so about 6 years of ownership. I paid $197 for it and after completing the recall documents the company said they were going to rebate me $125 which I don't think is bad at all.
