Good day. Just a suggestion... After examining my brake and fuel lines, the metal tubing ones, and deciding that they are in acceptable condition, I used the 'ol wire brush wheel on the bench grinder to clean them up for use. I noticed that after a few days they began to discolor again. Solution?? After making sure that there are no bends, rusted out spots, or anything to compromise the integrity of the lines, clean them and spray a light coat of clear Rustoleum on the lines. They will remain untarnished.... tape the threads and the flanged ends first, of course. Works for me.. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Ron

Hi Ron,

I've even sprayed clear over my new zinc plated lines, and aluminum bits (like shock bodies). The hope is the clear will provide some extra protection from the elements. Just make sure you pick a clear rated for outdoor use or it can yellow over time. Another hint with brake lines is to slide the connector back and put a very small amount of anti-seize where the connector and tube flare contact. This will keep the connector from fusing to the flare over time so you can remove it easily.

John, Is this site great or what??? Thanks for the advice. Great idea. I have also used the clear on my miscellaneous parts, once cleaned, to keep them bright.
