I came across this camshaft in a box of parts. I believe it to be a full race cam made by Kas Kastner.Looks in good shape. How can I find out what the specs are? Is it possible to measure the cam lobes with a caliper gauge to tell how worn it is. 100_1921.jpg100_1927.jpg100_1928.jpg100_1929.jpg100_1924.jpg What would cause the flat wear patterns that you see? Is that normal. Any thoughts appreciated.
 
It may be my computer but all the photos are blurry.
 
To translate from Peterk's chart, the E cam is the last in Kastener's grinds (A to G I think) suitable for street. Your's is in the race category. Tom
 
As for wear, it's almost always obvious: pits, chips, and striations. I have seen camshafts reground so deeply that the heel of the cam is actually below the surface of the shaft, which would be a concern to me, at least. If you don't see any wear, it should be OK.

If you could post some non-blurry pics, we could help evaluate it.

Oh, and, Peter: thanks for that link. Maybe I'm out of the loop, but I was unaware of that site. That's a useful table.
