Yeah, I know. They were pretty much the definition of forgettable and un-spotting worthy. Which is why they're all gone now and seeing one is so rare.

That made this weekend's spotting of a white LeBaron convertible, the older square edge style, in mint condition, that much more unusual.

You know it had to be in original condition, too. Nobody would restore one to that level.

Oh my. That was back when they had to buy VW engines while Lee was trying to get them out of bankruptcy.

Now after Bankruptcy 2.0 they have FIAT engines. :friendly_wink:

Haha, a silver and black convertible LeBaron lives two doors down from me and I semi-regularly see a Maserati TC in Lawton.

My parents bought no less than three of them during the 1980s because of their 5/50 warranty. The first was a turd-brown 1983 Dodge 600 -- which was a K-car with a longer wheelbase, 400 more pounds, but the same power of a standard K car. In other words...a dog of dogs that would routinely get blown off the line by Chevettes. That was followed by a fire engine red 1985 Dodge Aries Wagon, which eventually became mine. A blown head gasket killed it around 100,000 miles...or so I thought. A CarFax search turned up that the car was extant in Mississippi at least up until a few years ago. Then they bought my sister a 1986 Aries Coupe.

It might have taken three cars, but my father, who, except for one used 1961 VW, never bought anything but American to buy his first Toyota Camry in 1987, and since then, that is all he has bought. They are now on Camrys #5 and #6

I ended up replacing the K car with a '93 Honda Civic Coupe EX. That was the first year of the coupe design. It was funny how much better my dating life became when I had the Civic.

when we got married, we had a Blue Horizon - it actually ran pretty well except we were getting a lot of blow by towards the end.

That said, there is a square body LeBaron around here - white with cool rims - I must say it is better looking than I remember them being - it has aged pretty well - especially compared to the rest of them.
