Talking with Mickey Richaud on a cooking thread on free-for-all and when he sent me a killer recipe for shrimp gumbo it reminded me of a story the late Justin Wilson ( Whose cajun cooking TV show I loved) told one day while HIS Gumbo was coming to a boil.
Please imagine a Cajun accent when reading this story -
A Frand ob mine was pretty good ol fella - but he like a nip once in a while, so one night he down on the Bayou wid sum frands and he got him a feelin' good -
On de way home he must needs pass thru de cemetary to get to his house - Well, he not seeing so good,and it dark as de inside a yo hat, so he up and fall into a freshly dug grave. Der he lay for a while until he hear somebody comin' down the path.
Well...here come de gravedigger out for a walk in de evenin' and he, mor'n likely had him a nip too, so he did'nt think to much of it when he passed dis open grave and heard comin up from below:
" Ahm soooooo cold!"
Well, he look in der and see dat ol boy layin' der and thought about it a minute and said:
"No wonder you cold - you done kicked off all yo dirt!"
