Just Updated Verizon Phones

Janet and I have had our old phones for a couple years, and are now beginning to do more texting. The ones we had didn't have the "QWERTY" keyboard, and were a pain to use for texting. Went to our local Verizon store and checked out their offerings, and decided on the Samsung "Intensity" model. Nice phone; I think we'll be happy with them.

After bringing them home, and checking online for reviews, I noticed an online price of $19.99 each for upgrade. We bought them from the local store for $69.99 each, after rebate, so I went back to see if they would honor the online price. They did! Just goes to show: Do your homework!

Mickey- You may have paid $19.99 too much... I copied the offer for the Samsung Intensity off of the Verizon website (see below). They are offering the phone for FREE

Re: Just Updated Verizon Phones

That appears to only be valid with a new 2-year contract. Not as an "upgrade".

Re: Just Updated Verizon Phones

I'm with you, Doc....Jerri & I can call one another on our Verizon phones & it doesn't cost anything - no minutes, nothing....why would I want to text her when I can speak directly? Sorry, Mick....

Re: Just Updated Verizon Phones

Tony- I said the same thing and now I find for short questions and quick thoughts it is great. My kids text me from school all the time

Re: Just Updated Verizon Phones

More and more folks are using texting. I get two or three a day from various folks; some family and some members of the church. Just trying to keep up with the times here!

Re: Just Updated Verizon Phones

I text. There's a place for it. I'd rather text than leave or listen to a voicemail (depending on the message I guess).

Regardless: anything is better than those obnoxious, stupid, annoying Nextel walkie-talkie things.
