Just tinkering on my Mercedes 300SLR...

Yup, Phill Hills 1955 Mille Milglia car. Just pulled it out of mothballs, did some tinkering, then moved on to my Porsche 904.
After that I fiddled with the 56 Chevy and the Chrysler turbine car. Later I'm gonna try and dig out the VW window van, or maybe start on the 48 Ford woody.
Ah....If only they weren't all 1:24/1:25 scale.
Still got my gigantic stash from when I was a kid. Lot's unbuilt, some in need of resto. good cold weather fun.

Banjo....I have 1/2 of a 1 car garage sized space filled with the same.... But I've been too busy with 1:1 scale of late....lol

Ben,

Meds kicking in?I've got the same thing, only in 1:1-
'60 Ford Anglia,'74 TR6,'78 B210.
On the other hand...... I did actually meet Phil Hill.

That's gotta be one huge collection Pete. I've got mine all packed into the basement/ stuffed in bins, some on shelves, all over the place. If I put it all in one spot, I bet it'd take up the equivalent area of the TR2. there's easily a few hundred cars and trucks down there ( I honestly guess close to 500)
I'm envious Doug. Phil Hill is one of my heroes. along with Sir Stirling Moss.
I'm contemplating picking a few of my rarer models to sell to fund a 1:1 scale hot rod.
By the way, there are a couple of gansters trying to outrun the cops in their '28 Lincoln on my workbench, and Boy is it full of bullet holes!hehehhe. I promise some pics soon.

Post at least one pic of Diesela in O'berg. All horrible images forgiven!

Banjo,
Had me going for a Minuit there.

Wait'll ya see what's NEXT!!!

gotta import some images.. they're all on SWMBOs lappy. I never did post any proof of "The Rendezvous" did I?
I got the day off tomorrow, I gotta get some digital imaging roadblocks sorted.

I was getting really, really green with envy. Thanks for fessing up - I feel so much better now.

Guess I gotta fess up too, I have probably 100 built kits, and around 800 unbuilt. Wish I had more time.... Workin on a 65 Vette coupe, and a "Big Canopy" skyraider up next. Looking for good referance material for that one...

AMT/Ertl truly helped me keep my sanity throughout a turbulent childhood. I still have an unopened '40 Ford Coupe waiting to be started.

I always liked AMT because they usually had the metal axles, and we played with out cars a lot. Monagram had pretty good rolling wheels, but I thought a lot of their stuff was a little "thick" looking. Revell made some of my favorites. the entire Saints and Demon series of hot rods, excellent detail and some really neat cars, but often they were difficult to build, and were rather fragile. then I found JoHan, and that opened up a new world of "oddballs" from Plymouth Fury police cars to Cadillac hearses and ambulances.
Towards the end I got into sports/race cars and they tend to come form oddball companies.

With me,it was AMT,MPC,JOHAN,and all of the others.
I never cared for Revell's 2 piece tires,& Aurora's 3 piece bodies.
And then there were the "promotionals" that car dealers gave out.
I still remember buying Mustang promotionals for $1 each -
why didn't I keep at least one of them?
