Help - Moss Rockershaft Oil Feed Line [PN: 821-350]

Hello! So I just got home from a beautiful evening cruise and as I pulled in to my garage I noticed a puff of smoke (oil). I just double checked and it seems it's only on acceration, and at the early side of accelerating. Typically, I would assume that a valve seal or maybe a gasket is going (car just started running after 30 years!) but I also just put A rocket shaft oil feed line from Moss that connect the bottom of the engine to the top, bringing oil to the top easier. (Part number: 821-350)

Has anyone else had the issue where it might burn a little oil from this? I'm not burning enough to freak out, but would like to know if I should be thinking about seals... :/

I guess I don't actually have valve seals. Could be a leaky valve?

The extra oil bypass sends way to much oil to the top of the engine especially in addition to the regular flow. I have a engine that has a blockage somewhere below the rocker shaft. So I put on one of these bypass oil lines. Even with only that bypass I was getting to much oil to the head. To cure it I welded the office closed and drilled it out with a very small drill. I recall that it was less than 1/16".

It seems like a lot of oil, but it's strange that Moss swears by them. I almost feel like adding more oil with the regulator will fix it, sort of evening the pressure between the top and bottom. I will add a qt (I'm half a qt low) and see if that helps.

The original (60's ?) bypass had a restricter in it . I added this bypass & also started to smoke . Removed it after a day , all is well again .

I've heard several times over the years that those extra oil lines are not needed and troublesome (as you found out). I'd remove it.

I took the rockershaft line off and it stopped. Waiting on Moss to give me the A-ok for a return. Was on for all of 20 mins...

I would say they do as much good as adding a half quart of oil. Waste of money. I hope they let me return it, I have so many other parts to buy. ;)
