Hello all,

I've been a member of the BCF for a couple of years; joined when I bought a 1970 B GT and had a lot of help from forum members while putting it back together. But I sold it a while back because of the need for top down running. Been looking for a long time for just the right car. And did I ever find the right one. A 99.9% original 1976 Jave green TR6 in unbelievable original condition. 29,413 verifiable miles (yes, odometer works, everyting works)from past title and required odometer statements. Also, just looking at the car one can tell. Seller put it on a lift for me to inspect, unreal. Absolutley no rust, repair, filler, bends, and no respray, original paint. This car could easily be restored/refurbished to a #1 concourse winner, but it is just too original for that. The only modification was a conversion to wire wheels,(the .1% non original) does that really hurt the value? Personally I don't think so. I'll add pictures to the pictures page when I get it. Can't wait for the summer round of LBC shows.

Congratulations Steve, and welcome back to the forum.

Post those pictures!

I'll see you (and your car!) at British Car Day at Eastwood Park in August.

Best regards,

Steve,

Congrats, you lucky dog.

My TR also was "almost 100% restored"

That 1% not quite restored has been a doozey
of a time getting sorted out.

Post some pics as soon as ya can.

Welcome back.

PS- You didn't buy your TR from a guy
named Pedro, did you?

Steve,

Glad to hear that you were one of the lucky ones who bought a truly nice TR6, without it needing mega repairs. We'd love to see pictures as soon as you can get them posted.

Oh, welcome to the forum. Nice to have you from the "dark side".

Just kidding. We like MG's too. Sometimes....depends on the owner.

Steve - welcome "back" home. Congrats on the car; you are one lucky guy.

You know the rules here - pictures of a new purchase are required! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Congratulations Steve!

I hope its originality and low mileage don't keep you from driving the wheels off it. You will love it.

Looking forward to seeing the pictures.

Thanks to all the encouragement and responses. Larry, yes it is the one on e-bay, and quite a story. I'll try to be brief, but I am usually long-winded. It was posted on ebay by someone other than the owner. The shop was selling on consignment from the actual owner and someone came in to look at the car. This "someone" told the shop owner that he would sell the car for him (not mentioning e-bay) and proceeded to take many pictures. I was looking on e-bay and noticed the car was local, which I was happy about (I won't go into the trip to Dallas a month ago to look at a LBC; bad experience, and expensive too). Anyway, looking at the pictures I recognized the shop the car was sitting in, and it was not where the e-bayer was selling from. So I went to the shop yesterday, Friday, and looked over the car and told the shop owner the I saw the car on e-bay. He was completely taken back and had no idea it was on e-bay. So, the car is really original, true miles, increditable. I mean it does show age, but in the correct way; the patina of the paint is beautiful. Bought the car this morning and am very happy with the purchase. One really has to wonder what goes on with e-bay.

Congrats on what sounds like an exceptional example. I'm glad you feel the car is too original to restore -- unmolested examples are rare enough to be worth preserving 'as is'.

There is a one-owner Java Green 6 in our local club -- shows the wear of frequent use (paint worn down to primer where the driver's arm rests on the top edge of the door) but a delight to see.

A conversion to wires certainly doesn't hurt the valus because 1) it is completely reversible & 2) people generally like wires on these cars.

Enjoy the big annual show in Dayton... I used to get there most years when I lived in the Midwest.

If you ever are planning to enter it in any show type events, remember these three words..... "Wire Wheels Win"

Steve, I would be interested to know which shop you bought the car from. Was it British Auto Specialists?

Here are a couple of pictures when the TR6 was in the show room. It is the back waiting new rear shocks. I hope this works.

Incredible, If you use it as a driver which I hope you do, be careful. There are a lot of fools on the road. Enjoy and preserve. Phil

Just one look in the engine compartment verifies this car is original. Good luck. (my advice: keep it original, avoid the wheel spinners and third brake light)

Thanks for posting those images, Steve. That is a beautiful original car. It's nice to see those pop up from time to time--it gives the rest of us hope!

Drive it 'til the wheels fall off, then put them back on and drive it some more.

Best regards,

Thanks for all the kind words; I will leave it alone as an original, and yes, I'll drive it!!

Thanks again.

Steve

The third brake light is a good thing and doesn't have to be something that alters the car at all. Yrs. and yrs ago a TR 6 showed at the KC all Brit. that was in simualar shape as yours, Truly nice!~!!!!! Enjoy!!!!!!!!
