Hello all,
My name is mike and I have owned some sort of British car since 1974. I started with a 59' Bugeye Sprite, then added an 71 MGB, and then a 63 E-Type Jaguar. I kept the Bugeye as my main transportation car for ten years. It went through many iterations of engines and transmissions, but it was always my favorit car. I sold it and the others to help with the down payment for a house when i got married. Since then i have had a 66 Mini, a 76 XJ6 Jag, a 69 Triumph GT6, a 76 Midget(POS), a 67 Midget, and my pride and joy, a 65 Shelby 427 AC Cobra Replica which I still have. Today, I just came home with what i started with. Another 59' Bugeye. So everything that goes around comes around. I guess the biggest difference between 1974 and today is, that back then i bought a completely stock with everything as it should be Bugeye for $300. Today, i came home with one that is missing a ton of stuff and paid $4900. Boy, gone are the days when these were cheap transportation. So I am in need of lots of various parts. Mostly trim and dash things as the car is pretty good mechanically. The only thing wrong in that respect was whoever upgraded the engine and trans, used the wrong pushrod for the clutch. So I just need to either find a shorter one or grind down the one that is on it so the clutch has the right adjustment. Other than that, I am 55 and live in beautiful Pebble Beach, CA. I am now retired so I can play with my cars as much as I can stand. I hope to chat with many of you and I know the Bugeye's from stem to stern as I did just about everything you could do working on my old one. Mostly because i was a poor college student and couldn't afford a mechanic. It was the learn by doing method. So if anyone needs any help, advice or tips on a Mk 1 sprite, I am glad to help. Well that is all I can think of to say at this point. Glad to be a member.

Welcome Mike,
You have found the best forum anywhere by coming here to Basil's little colony of LBC nut cases. It sounds like your experiences will help others here as well. And in a free moment, be sure to stop by the Pub for a pint.
As Russ said, we all love photos, so post away.
Enjoy the Ride!

Not another new member. They promised to close the door after I got in. Well, there goes the neighbourhood.

On the other hand, you are from Pebble Beach, so now we'll all have a place to park our golf clubs and British cars when we all come down for the week long Annual BCF golf Tournament.

Oh by the way, welcome to the Forum. You'll love the place. Gives you somewhere to go when your wife kicks you out.

Cheers
Dave

Welcome Mike
Could always use a hand on my 59 B/E. Still working on my bonnet and hardtop. The motor is done and the body work is next. Simple cars but a lot of fun. I'll actually be in Carmel in mid-May. Wish I could drive it over.
Regards
Paul
