Just been scolded by a nurse.

So the company I work for is shipping me off to Asia shortly. Corporate policy says I need to visit the health unit for some immunizations. Joy.

The nurse says to me... "and when was your last tetnous shot?"

Me: "uhh, not sure, probably about 5 years ago when I cut the tip of a finger off".

Nurse: "<with incredulous look on face> You don't know the exact date?"

Me: "well, not exactly. It was winter, I remember that."

Nurse: "Well you need to find out the exact date. Check your records this weekend and blah blah blah...."
"And what was the date of your last MMR booster as a child?"

Me: "Um, I don't remember, I was only three..."

At that point, she told me to get my records in order and to come back when I was more organized. Nice.

well, I suppose it's good she wants to know your shot history.

When I went to Asia while in the Marines, their policy was to shoot first ask later. Man, that was a lot of immunization shots, not as bad as boot camp, but still a lot.

Do like I did the last time I went to Asia..."Hey, I don't know. Just give me one of each." But there's 1 shot that you have to get 2 of & you don't want them both the same day - in separate butt cheeks! I couldn't sit for days....

"Just gimme th' booster. I work on old British cars." /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

...tooo late for that now, tho.

I am scolded by nurses every day. I sort of like it. Got my annual TB test today (needle in the arm). Had my last tetanus shot right before Christmas after I slammed my index fingertip in the Miata door and it latched and locked.

HR Director, chain of hospitals.

Yep, that's it, jeff...think its called 'gamma globin' or something like that - 2 are required...I dummied up, dropped trou' & told the nurse to just stick 'em both in at the same time!

Gamma Globulin, if I remember correctly. I was at Tuy Hoa in'67 and there was a hepatitis outbreak, so we all had to get those suckers. OUCH!

Records? Glad it ain't me 'cuz I don't have any records. I bet she would have scolded me worse /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banana.gif

Ah, just get the shots. Couldn't hurt if you are going someplace rather third worldish over there. I had to get shots for everything when I went over. We even got one for encyphilitus (not spelled correctly) before it was approved by the FDA. I guess they were using us as guinea pigs.

The GG shots were lots of fun, got them in boot camp, and a couple of times while overseas. The shots for malaria were lots of fun as well.

I figure by this point in my life, I can't be killed by much of anything that doesn't come out the barrel of a rifle... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Forgot to mention that my GF of ten years is a nurse, so I get scolded almost daily by a nurse...
