I'm a comin Jack.
Still need to organize caravans and stuff right?

Yep yep, have at it.

Man am I looking forward to this.

I was down there a couple months ago and the roads are great. There is a public boat launch close that has tiered parking lots on a hill that could offer a great place for a picture of all the cars. I was impressed with the parking at the hotel, it is shaded and should work great for the car show.

If you are coming from anywhere south of Missouri may I suggest routing yourself to MO Hwy 19 anywhere between the AR/MO border and US 60 and take it north to MO Hwy 42 west to Osage Beach, MO.
Hwy 19 is a really, really great ride.

Car show is going to be out 5 miles or so at the state park. Lovely spot with facilities and a BBQ will be offered on site from a local place that is to die for.

Maybe we need to have a BCF get together one night!

And I'm told that if this had been held over 4th of July weekend that the ladies on the boats down there make Sturgis pulchritude gathering look like nothing. Something about how much can you possibly show off.

All I need to do is finish my engine, install the datsun 5 speed tranny, get it in the car, get the carb and exhaust correct, redo all the hydraulics, make sure all the rewired electronics work.

Thanks for the reminder Jack, I'm reaching that point in any large project where I'm questioning my sanity. That plus some
cr@p in my personal life is affecting my motivation and energy. (Aging parents that live a distance away certainly take your attention)

Time to eat cake, drink beer and get back to the fun.

Bruce, you're project sounds like what I've got in store for me this spring. Just a few little things (brakes, tranny, engine, exhause, fuel system, hydraulics, lack of cash) to finish up before I could make the trip.

If it's any consolation, Bruce, my parents are dealing with my aging grandmother, who lives close to them (about 200 yards)... it takes all of their attention even with her close. We'll make it through, though. This is fun, at least some of the time. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I hope to be there. Too early to make plans yet. Got to get the car on the road and see how my knees do this winter. I would love to do this. If the car goes well and I get a hitch installed then I might bring my sailboat (Miss Spridget) and try out the lake.

Oh me oh my. I'm a sailor as well. Sailed since 12 years old up to several years ago.

Lakes, ocean and all between 8 ft prams to 120 ft big ones.

I didn't know that Jack! I bought mine about 5 years ago and was smitten from the start. Mine is just a 14 foot boat, but I love it. I used to have a place in va to go sailing on a lake where the inlaws had a place but they sold it. The only place I have been in over a year is a tiny lake at the nearby power plant. I miss open water.

Oriental is north of Wilmington. About 2 hours and 15 minutes of driving. It is right on the Intercoastal Waterway. We have a small British Car group here. Maybe will become a club.

Yep, pulled a sunfish with my Bugeye in Hawaii.

Are there any hotels or motels on the water with slips down there? I would love to find a place to stay and sail and not have to unstep the mast evey day.
