Junkpile B up-date, IT RUNS!

After lots of piddly little details (wiring) and some life events slowing me down, the junkpile B project is running and driving.(Original target date was July 4, only missed it by a little bit)I spent about seven hours with it saturday just sorting stuff out, stuck the new rotor in it and it fired up. Considering how long this motor has been nonoperational, I was impressed. It has a pretty free flowing exhaust system (glasspack) and has a nice throaty rumble. Good oil pressure, no smoke and no leaks! Time to finish the interior and get it on the road. One observation; studded snow tires are really noisy on one of these!

Fortunately the snow missed us this weekend.

Nice work, Bruce.

Who puts studded snows on an MGB? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Re: Junkpile B up-date, IT RUNS!

Not sure why it has studded snows. They came with the car, and it will get new tires. I have driven MGBs since 1979 in all seasons and all weather. I have had to use tire chains, but never had studded snow tires. An MGB with tire chains is almost unstoppable.

Re: Junkpile B up-date, IT RUNS!

MG's love the snow. Put the right tires on that puppy and a set of chains in the back, and you're good year-round.

Lookin' good!

Not bad for a pile o'junk. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif Congrats. I know most of that feeling, I just gotta drive it now.

Hey Bruce -

Looks great! Congratulations! 5 months behind schedule isn't that bad on a car that's been around for thirty-something years. (My resto should be going so well....)

Looks like beautiful days ahead here, use them and enjoy them while they last!

Re: Junkpile B up-date, IT RUNS!

Looking GOOD!

My rat-rod '73 Midget project will get some work this Winter, but the car is outside, so only the stuff I've removed from it.

Meanwhile, I'm going to look at a white MGB with wires later this week (sound familiar?)....we'll see how that works out.

Re: Junkpile B up-date, IT RUNS!

I've a decade on bcliff, had chains in the boot in winter but rarely needed 'em. Drove the B's year-round as primary transport, N.E. US winters never stopped 'em. MGB's are like little tanks.

Musta been before the advent of the SUV.

Re: Junkpile B up-date, IT RUNS!

Even Bugeyes go well in the deep snow for some reason.

Must be the balance of the car or a combination of that and the weight.

Re: Junkpile B up-date, IT RUNS!

In all the snow and hail
the little MGB would never fail

Around the corners and down the street
The MGB is such a treat

When I can't drive the SUV
I sit snug and warm in the MGB

Bigger is better they all say
but in my MGB I say 'no way'...
