TR6 JUNK Hood latch

I went to close my hood (bonnet for you chaps) today and once again the blankityblank thing fell apart. This is the third latch that I have purchased. The small stud (circled in Red) detaches from the body of the latch. The stud is just pressed in.
I have found these latches to be CHEAPLY made.
I have no problem getting a new one but I don't want to end up with the same đź’©.
The spring latching mechanism is lined up fine, it's the small stud on the handle that's the problem 🤬

Is there a better option out there for the latch?
Have any of you guys had the same problem and how have you fixed it?

OK, Problem solved!
I used a hardened punch to spread the end of the pivot pin. It's not coming out now.

If I had this problem, I'd put a little tack weld on it. You don't need a welder; you just need a friend with one...
That was my very first thought. I don’t know anyone with one so this was plan B.
It appears to be holding pretty good.
A tack weld is the way it should have been manufactured!
