MGB John Twist is the man!

All if you have not seen John Twist's videos on YouTube you need to. He runs university motors and has wonderful videos on most things MG. I watched one and he solved a mystery for me.
My motor mounts are bad and the motor appeared to be 1/2" or so off toward the back of the car. The video on transmission mounts showed the problem. There are two holes in the cross member to possibly put the tranny mount stud into. The front one (toward front of car) is used for later models probably 1974.5 on. The back hole is for overdrive and older models. My 1977MGB tranny mounts are in the wrong hole! When my dad had the clutch rebuilt they put in the mount wrong.
With new engine mounts (passenger side completely severed) and proper location of the engine I hope the drivetrain noise will go away.

They're pretty good. He did a lot of them before his shop closed; apparently it wasn't doing well, and his wife was ill, too. Now it seems to have reopened, and I guess he's doing videos again.

And, yes, it's soooooo easy to put these cars back together wrong, as I'm learning full well with my TD restoration. Sometimes it doesn't matter much, but other times it really does.
