Controls Engineer
Olympic Precision, Inc. (OPI) seeks a controls engineer with a strong background in the fundamentals of both analog and digital control systems.
OPI is a small Vermont company that specializes in the design and development of precision metrology systems. The principal technologists at OPI are internationally recognized for their expertise in precision engineering and precision manufacturing systems.
The successful candidate will work with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, designers and technicians on assignments that will include from-scratch designs of complete motion control systems, the selection of system components, and the programming of such systems. In addition to motion control systems, the applicant should be sufficiently versatile to apply the same knowledge to other applications, such as temperature control.
Experience that will distinguish the successful candidate includes experience with linear motor drive systems, linear encoders, implementing and programming Delta Tau-based control systems, low-noise, high bandwidth sensing devices, and experience with project planning and management.
Minimum requirements for this position include:
• BS/MS/PhD in engineering, physics or related field, or equivalent experience
• Five years experience in the design and implementation of modern control systems
• A fundamental understanding of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) controllers and their application
• Ability to communicate and interface with other team members
• A demonstrated understanding of analog sensing and filtering, digital filtering and digital data acquisition
• Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
