Does anybody remember Melanie, with her hit Lay Down (Candles in the Rain)?

I was a hippie, once.

Willie, there was also the Tonya Harding version of that song:
"I've got a brand new pair of figure skates, she's got a busted knee". /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

I probably didn't need to run an age survey on the forum a few pages back, just ask how many of you would know what a skate key was. I think I still have one.

For you youngins.....

I remember her well! She was a local girl where I lived in N.J. many, many moons ago!! I certainly miss the old "coffee-house" venues!! There was a certain intimacy to the music in those places that one just doesn't find anymore except in the rare jazz club!!

I just want to know if she ever did a song where she sounded like Bob Dylan? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

I don't remember Melanie doing that, but I certainly do Joan Baez! And I think the correct answer was posted in "Joan Baez 2" /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

PS: I can just hear the young'uns wondering "What do you need a key for roller-skates for? Did they have locks on them?" How many "good" pairs of shoes did you old-timers ruin clamping your skates to them?
