An amazing creative talent. Would have loved to hear what he came up with next had he survived into older age.
 
One of the tantalizing "what ifs" was reportedly that Hendrix had felt he had taken the guitar as far as he could go with it and was planning on learning the saxophone. That would have been extremely interesting.

There were rumors of a plan for a record with Miles Davis as well -- that would have been something to hear.
 
Saw him in San Diego when I was at comm school at the USMC base there.
 
Saw him in concert in Denver, I think it was in 1969. He played at the Mile High Stadium. What a show!
 
I was only 2 when I was at comm school in San Diego......
