Jensen V8

Anybody have experience with the 70's Jensen (actually looking for '73 or '74)? I am looking for one to tinker with and relive my desire for a hotrod. Rust points and other weak points to be especially concerned with would be helpful.
Thanks

vettedog72,

Your location is listed as LA. Is that LA, CA? Or is it LA as in where the Big Easy is at?

If it's the latter, never mind. If it's the earlier, I have a buddy up in Santa Clarita with a '74 MK III Convertible (440 six-pack) project* for sale.

Hello VD,
I'm not that well up on Jensen's but rust is a factor. The years you mention, I take it is the Interceptor you like. There was a special model, the FF, but I think they'd stopped that version by then. The car was ahead of its time as it was four wheel drive and anti lock brakes. Quite a car by all accounts. Look for the two small grilles behind the front wheel rather than one of the standard Interceptor.

i've had a 1971 series II with the 6.3 litre engine now for 5 years and love driving it, in fact i just love looking at it. as always, i bought one that someone else had spent all the money on. it seems the perfect car...conceived in england, designed by italians and with american engine and drive train. unfortunately it has "prince of darkness" electrics, but if you want to tinker.....
it drives like an american car and is certainly a talking point where ever you go.
as with all english cars, rust is a problem but no more than any car thats 30 years old, but what a bargin, you couls buy 3 jaguar XJS's for the price of one of these when new !

And with three Jag XJS's you'd just about have one running all the time. A ggod friend of my parents called hers "The Lawn Ornament".

The project is interesting as the ultimate Intercepter is the convertable. The convertable is out of my range but a project is interesting. I am in the Big Easy, but if the project is "right", I could haul it east. Can you give any specifics on condition and completeness (all there).

I think these cars are collector, mussel car sleepers and they can still be obtained. You are a smart, cool motor head!
