Jeep Cherokee trailer wiring

My wife's 99 Jeep Cherokee has the tow package, which includes an onboard device to make the brake and turn lights work the single bright element on a trailer.Some time ago the brake lights on the car, without a trailer plugged in, began staying on, but very dim. Turning on the flashers and turning them off would stop it until the next time you touched the brake. I solved it temporarily by pulling fuses in the right kick panel box until I found a correction (which also disabled cruise control). I suspect the diodes in the tow package circuit. Does anyone know (or can you point me to a diagram which might show) where the device is that consolidates the brake and turn circuits? Thanks,Bob
 
You probably already have, but make sure all grounds are good. I had an ElCamino that did pretty much that same thing and it all came down to a bad ground in the system. PJ
