Has anyone used this, JBs "SUPER" weld? PJ

Not used it, I tend to 'stick' to what I know works... Loctite 495 most times.
 
Doc, does 495 get hard, I want something that will fix the new brass odometer gears to the shaft and not soften up. PJ
 
Why not use the original JB Weld that has part A and part B?
Once it’s cured it’s extremely hard.

The 495 is a "super glue" and likely not the best idea for those gears. For that I'd be for doing a "hospital clean" treatment of shaft and gear (alcohol), then an epoxy like JB that Elliot asked about. Loctite EA-907 is good, too. Just give any of 'em a long enough cure time.

I have a new tube of that Elliot, thanks I'll give it a try. There is hardly any strain on those gears at all, especially if everything is lubed properly. I just have to tone down the little pips on the shaft the fiber gear was affixed to so I can press the shaft easily into the gears. If all goes well on pressing the shaft in I probably wouldn't have to glue them together, but I just don't want to chance it. :rolleyes2:

If you use the original (parts A&B) it will take 24hrs to cure so it may not be ideal.

Well, the instrument will be on the bench in a few pieces so time is no concern. Probably be a week before it goes together and back in the car.
 
Yup. "Green" Loctite could also work.
 
Just ordered Loctite 620. Should be fine. (y)
