Jaybird Must be Chuffed!

Janel - So sorry - I didn't see the post about Chuck's sister when I made my smart remark about the WS...I apologize for that also....

I'm very sorry, you our sympathy....

RATS! I missed a smart alecky remark from Tony and didn't even get a chance to toss him a comeback??? Come on Basil, put the post back - I haven't had a 'go to' with Tony for a couple days now.

Thanks everyone. Chuck is one of nine kids. Middle child #5. His sister was 3rd oldest, 64 years old. Had been sick a long time with health issues, emphysema. Was like everyone figured Pauline would be the 'first to go' but was still a shock when we got the call. We're all fine. Spent a couple hours with Mom D today and Brian & Chelle came out and gave her the good news about being a great-gramma again. (for the upteenth dozen time!)

Oh man.. somehow I missed reading this. Thoughts and prayers to you and yours... I had noticed that you hadn't posted in a couple of days. wondered what was up.
This was a baseball post to start with so I kinda skipped over it.

Aw, Janel, it was just a smart alecky comment about your baseball fetish....how's Chuck holding on?

He's fine Tony. It's sad, but yet not completely a shock. Wednesday will be hard on Mom and all the siblings, but the Demicks are a tough bunch. And it's just the completion in life's circle.

I did my best to set you up, Janel /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angel.gif. It just happened at the wrong time. You will be able to move on after Wednesday, I hope.
Regards, David. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

Glad Chuck has a big family....
Always helpful in times of crisis.

(Many people are essentially on their own.)

Hope you all can spend some extra time together.

With a 20 year age difference between the oldest and youngest, Chuck & I always have spent a lot more time with 3 of the 4 youngest girls. Alice is 48, Dottie is 52, Martha is my age. We spend a LOT of time with them. Less with the older girls. I think that's probably natural.

Thanks for your kind thoughts. We're all fine. The funeral will be hard on Chuck's mom and the siblings. But, with creamation and no burial, it will be very short.

Parents aren't supposed to bury their children. But when you're 90 years old, that is more likely to happen. But Mom's handling it pretty well now, her faith is strong and has carried her through some very VERY hard times. And as cliche as it sounds, Pauline went almost instantly. Her physical quality of life was pretty poor. She's whole again.

I hear what you are saying /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/iagree.gif. It will be difficult for Chuck's mom for a while. Our family went through this when my mother died at 51. My grandparents had to deal with that. It was very hard on my grandfather.
Best to your family, David.
