Jaguar V-12 stuck valve

Another question about my 72 XKE coming out of storage, when it turns over there is a clacking noise coming from the valve train. I plan to pull the valve and turn it over slowly by hand to see exactly what it is. Assuming it might be a stuck valve what are the remedies short of a valve job?
Thanks - Rusty

Hello Rusty,
as it has been idle for so long there will be very little oil left up there. Remove the cam covers and give every where a spray with an aerosol of maintenance fluid. Turn the engine over and watch the valves. If one is stuck try and move it with a lever, but allow the spray time to work. With luck and gentle persuasion it will probably be OK.

Alec.
