Jaguar LH front door hinge spring

100_1949.jpg This is a broken (bottom end) spring hinge for a LH front door - 93 XJS Jaguar Coupe. I need a replacement. Don't need the whole hinge, just the spring.

You are better off swapping out the whole hinge. I had one break on a Series III XJS and could not get the spring in place. There are several salvage yards that you can get ine from.

I have a complete set of hinges for a 94 which are the same as the 93.
Make me a reasonable offer for what you want.

I had the same problem with my 93 XJS coupe. Got 2 hinge springs from a donor jag. Made sure they were not cracked. Had one rewelded at the weak point. My only suggestion is to remove the door. I had posted a thread earlier with my door spring issue and received info from a Jag owner in France, as to how to remove the door. I still have not found a solution - other than removing the door. Trying to torque the spring onto the hinge with the door still mounted is not an option.

With the door closed you have to remove the front fender well splash shield. it has several Phillips head screws (#2) and oval washers. Then remove the radiator overflow tank between the fender and inner fender. You should be able to get at bolts that attach the fender. With the fender removed, you can get at the three bolts that attach the hinge to the door post. I loosened the row of bolts along the top of the fender, I did not have to take the fender completely off, but it may bet easier to do so.

Thanks for the reply. After loosening the row of bolts along the top of the fender, what is the next step(s) to get the hinge spring in place with the proper torque? The hinge spring on my 93 Jag is connected in the upper slot. The lower part of the spring cannot be placed where it should be, due to the needed torque to get it in place. What did you do to get the spring completely installed?

I took the hinge all the way off and left the door latched so that the alignment did not change. With the hinge removed you can position the spring without trying to pry it in place. It is still easier to just change the hinge, but with the hinge off the car you are not limited by the door travel to get the spring in place.
