Just starting to detail the engine in my '64 Mk2,The block seems to a soft black color, but the head between the cam covers has some small areas that are a pale green(not unlike the color of an Austin-Healy engine). Are these the correct colors ????Please advise.RayC

RayC:
Flat Black block and 8-1 B-head sea green color, if car original correct, 3.8L are different colors, what engine do you have , compression? Will look up and get back to you.
8 or 9-1, 3.4 or 3.8., even 2.4 different. I have the JCNA colors somewhere.

RayC:
I've moved my books around and haven't found the colors yet, but the 3.4 engine of the late 50's to 65 the block is flat black( heat dissapation for transfer) and the: 7:1 A-head dark blue
8:1 B-head Light robin egg
as you have
9:1 C-Type Head RED
The 3.8 were green/red/ some were a pumpkin color as the 150 and the straight port head was gold as on the E.
Ithink you'll be ok if you use the colors you see, the green I used was the old chevy green engine paint and had no contest in shows.
I'm still looking for the chips and will file in the tech as soon as I find them, might be a while.

Thanks alot! I have the 3.4 liter(the car came originally from Sweden,left-hand drive,4 speed with electric overdrive).RayC

Hello Ray,
My 3.8 MK 2 has a blue painted cylinder head and from one of my books this is correct. Gold for straight port 3.8's and 4.2's, some were unpainted, e.g. XK 120\140's
If any one is interested I will post the complete list (about 20 models in all)
