Did the 120 or 140 Jag have a 5-speed option? If so what was the shift pattern? PJ

Came with 4-speeds. 120 and 140 had non-syncro 1st gear. There were optional rear diff combos. Many different compression heads. Some have modified to the Toyota or Gretreg transmissions which have 5 or 6 speed. Pattern would be up to the tranny inserted.

Thanks, Larry, it was a question put to me which I couldn't answer. PJ

Grew up with a 140 MC Coupe. First gear was a pain. But, years later when I joined our volunteer fire dept. One of the requirements to be able to drive the new automatic trucks was to drive the old 1955 pumper which had a non syncro tranny. I sailed thru that and was driving the new ones immediately as I lived two blocks from the firehouse.

As far as I know, the 120 and 140 models typically came with a 4-speed manual transmission as standard. However, there might have been some aftermarket options available for a 5-speed setup, but it's not super common.

As for the shift pattern, with a 5-speed gearbox, it would likely follow the standard H-pattern, with reverse being to the right and down. But without more specific info, it's hard to say for sure.

If you're thinking about upgrading to a 5-speed, it could be a cool mod for your Jag. Might be worth looking into some aftermarket options
