TR6 J-type OD to replace A-type in a TR6

Hiya Skip,

Are you talking about the OD itself or the mounting point on a frame?

Cheers,
Tush

Can be done, takes some work. Have to cut the original mounting points off of the frame for clearance:

PS, be wary of vendors claiming they are selling a TR6 J-type. Frequently they actually come from a Volvo, which has several small but important differences. John Esposito (Quantum Mechanics) has a listing for all the parts required to make the Volvo OD fit a TR6 properly.

Also, the speedo drive ratio is different between early and late TR6. The parts are available to set up a J-type for the early ratio, but ISTR you have to disassemble the OD to install the worm gear on the annulus.

Thanks guys - appreciate the info.

Hondo/Don - as usually with me it is a bit complicated. Was thinking of moving power trains around between the different cars. Non-viable idea as it turns out.

Randall - yes, made that mistake already. I had a Volvo OD that served as a paperweight for a long time because I wasn't smart enough to listen to search for / ask for advice here back when I was getting started. My solution to that error was to buy a Volvo. Probably not a recommended fix for many....

Tom, forgot entirely that you where the one asking
