J-H 907 sparks to life!

Today we got our Jensen-Healey 907 engine started. It really isn't running.
The only way to keep it going was to hand choke the rear Stromberg.
We didn't look at the carbs at all, but now I have kits on order and that should do it.
It was sitting for a number of years and I am hoping when we run it some more it will quit smoking.
A lot of thanks to folks on this and other forums.

Because the left and right motor mounts are at different heights we couldn't use the "clubs" engine stand without serious modification.
The blocks of wood were a lame attempt at keeping the motor level.

 any port in a storm

Congrats!

While waiting for the carb kits, we are going to dose the cylinders with Marvel Mystery Oil. Let is set for a week. Hopefully it will loosen up the rings for less blow by and smoke.

Ray, I've never used MMO. But when I first got my MG, I found uneven cylinder compression. I dropped some SeaFoam into each cylinder, let it sit for 24 hours, then did another compression test. All cylinders had increased at least 5 psi, and the one which was 95 psi (instead of around 120 like the others) had moved up to 115.

Can't complain there!

Marvel Mystery Oil is the best. I think that this is one of those personal preference arguments, ala Triumph or MG, though.
