I've seen it, it's rough but...

I understand its not hard to turn one of those into a convertible....

The front seats fold down into a bed.

wasn't that kind of a trademark of Ramblers, Nashes and the like?

I think Camshaft is about to buy a lttle Metro - wwhadda you guys think?

Love seeing that typical BMC valve cover in the car. It's almost a trademark of the British car industry.

Hey!

My grandmother had one of those! And this was in the late 50's.

She was a very conservative, prim old lady, even then.

That's a BMC engine in there! An A-Series.

No thanks...but...as soon as this whole mess with my BGT gets figured out, I am looking at "adopting" a Rover P5...

I was around then, too, and remember Metropolitans as being considered pretty "prim and proper" themselves.

Doc - I think they had a B-series engine like an MGA rather than an A series but my memory isn't always etc etc.

John, originally they had the same 1200 as the Austin A40, then changed to a 1200 "B" series, later upgraded to a 1500 "B" series.

I'll sit corrected.... lazy, y'see. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

It was my recollection that they started life out as LBCs (the Austin Metro) and were imported here from Blighty before production was moved here and they became the Metropolitan Nash! (Of course I could be wrong - I usually am!)

Mike, according to a little research, they were never built here. They were also marketed as the Hudson Metropolitan before both Nash and Hudson were dropped from the nameplate, when they all simply became Metropolitans.
