TS 6583 L was finally started up thursday night for the first time since the crankshaft failed in 1973.The owner(my old friend) had kept the engine in his barn all these years(not the best place)Don has been battling throat cancer for over a year. But I believe that the restoration work we have done on his tr2 has kept his mojo from failing completely, even when the chemo nearly killed him.
It is very nearly done now after some 500 hours of work.Looking very sharp in signal red with stone leather interior, it will be driven a lot starting this spring. The smile on Don's face when she fired up was worth more than words can say....

Congratulations!! Though, knowing your expertise, it is no surprise. Congrats to friend Don and tell him to hang in. Some things in life are beyond worth, a smile can be one of them.

If you're on the road this spring watch for Don,the grin will give him away! He plans to travel since he is retired now.No doubt he will do a few shows.

It's not hard at all, the main trick is to click on the "Reply" or "Quote" buttons. Then look for the link near the bottom that says "File Manager". If you click on that, it will open a new window that will let you "Browse" for the file you want to post, then "Add File" and "Done Adding Files".

The picture won't show up in the compose window (where you are entering your message), but will be in the post when you click "Submit".

There are other ways too; like posting your photos on a website (eg Photobucket) and posting a link here.

Yep, MD you need to resize them to a smaller number. I have used 600 for most of my stuff and have no problem getting them sent out.

Congratulations on friend Don's car. You gave him something to live for and look forward to. Priceless, MD.

Best regards, Tinkerman

Congratulations to both of you. Thirty five years is a long wait. Enjoy!

MD - To you and to Don. Please tell him that I restored my 1958 TR3A from 1987 to 1990. Since then I've driven a little more than 100.000 miles. In November, 2004, I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma (bone marrow cancer) and this was while I was restoring another late TR3A for a chap from Toronto. With the help of my brother and my neighbour (both very mechanical types and both recently retired), I directed the continuation of this restoration as per my requirements and it came out super.

This car and actively directing the project is what I consider to have helped me beat the cancer. I have been in remission a little more than 4 years, but that first 18 months was . . . . .

This BRG TR saved my life.

Keep up the proverbial British "stiff upper lip". You can beat it !

Since then, I've driven my black TR3A about 24,000 miles.

Wowzer.... a 35 year snooze? I am a bit of digi photohead and have a passion to learn as much as I can about the TR2 /3. If you like, send my your images via e-mail (I have unlimited bandwidth) and I'll gladly re-size and post on your behalf. I REALLY want to see this thing!

Don: That green car looks excellent.

What a story, and what a journey.

Congratulations to you!

And, there's no car like a TR2/3. The pure driving experience, wonderful!
