Wedge IT's a nice car, its just not a TR8

"In fact, if my car sells it’s probably going to set a record for TR8s on eBay" - howerer the car is not a TR8 its a nicely modified TR7.

Ebay "TR8"

I love the fact that the guy starts in about how original his conversion is, and then lists every modification he has made.

"It would take a sharp eye and a deep knowledge of Triumph VIN numbers to ever know it was a TR7." Is that aside from the 3.9 on the side, the non factory motor, or the Holly carb?

Doonyer, if you are out there - its a very nice car, and you've a lot to be proud of, but it is not now and never will be a TR8.

Sorry for the rant. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonod.gif

It does look and sound from the description like a very nice car.
I wondered when he described the differences whether he changed the front subframe; he only mentions a few brackets. This is available from Rimmer brothers I think, so perhaps he did as he mentions sourcing other items there.
If the car is from Canada it would have metric speedo, we changed to kilometers in 1979, that might be easily changed, though.
As Radford says, nice car, not a TR8, but nice.

in the ad I see "Canadian cars are often rust-free because of the superior rust protection required by law in Canada." I live in Canada and have yet to see a "law" like that. If they did my parts car would be a driving car and not look like this parts car
none the less it does look like a nice Triumph and some one will have a fun car when they buy it.

I agree Radford. This is a very nice car. I thought you were a little harsh on your explanation until I read the auction. The seller went the extra (long) mile to explain why it is a TR8 when its not. The car was rebuilt with many items the TR8 has, however, there are many modifications that were not original to the TR8 (ie..holley,3.9L engine, edelbrock intake, etc..). Additionally, why would someone advertise that its a TR8 when the VIN (with some verifying)is a TR7. This is why so many people use the term TR7V8. The seller did an excellent job restoring the car, yet, they are not representing it correctly by stating its a TR8.....

You should see the thread on the "Wedge List" about this car. The owner is a member of that list and seems to have an interesting reputation for controversy. It does appear to be a nicely done car though.
