Items you are least likely to find in a Triumph...

As I took the ice scraper out of my TR6 last night and put it in the garage where it will sit until next winter's commute I began to wonder...

1) Did anyone else out there drive their Triumph through the winter this year?
2) Is it safe to assume most TRs have rarely had ice and snow on them?
3) What other items you are least likely to find in a Triumph?

How about "on"? I had Vredstein Studded snows on my TR250 back in the late 70's & am Amco clamp on Ski rack that went on the rear luggage rack!

Could barely fit two pairs of ski boots in the trunk.

Ah to be young & foolish again, & not worry about rust! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Re: Items you are least likely to find in a Triump

My TR8 carries a scraper and brush in the boot. But it is a coupe and I do drive it through the winter. My TR6 doesn't see much snow though.

Re: Items you are least likely to find in a Triump

I drove Sptifires and MGB all year round from the early seventies to 84 when I finally bought an American car.

Least likey thing to find in any of my cars.....A WORKING PEN!

Re: Items you are least likely to find in a Triump

I do have a scraper and a snow brush in the armrest console and the trunk of my '80 TR-7 Spider. With snow tires mounted, I've run it every winter for the past three years in Maine. Sure, I'm shortening the time until its demise, but the car is outstanding in the winter. The heather/blower really work and the 5-speed helps give you good control in snowy, icy weather. The door locks freeze up routinely, the rear window is getting scratched and snow falls onto the seat from the top every time you open the door. It doesn't like deep snow, either, as it tends to plow, but it has never stranded me.

Hi,

Actually I used to drive my TR4 year round in Colorado. It was pretty good in the snow. I carried the usual scraper and brush, and even at one point had a set of radial tire chains (they broke pretty quickly, though).

Unlikely items include virtually all modern creature comforts that we take for granted in our 21st century cars (You mean I have to manually turn this handle to roll the window up and down?) and correct change for toll booths. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Check out the vintage scraper I found under the front seat of the Jag.
I propped it up on the windshield by a cool "Canada" sticker showing a horse drawn carriage that I intend to leave on the car

Item least likley to be found in my TR, is a modern radio.

Drove my TR7 all winter, this for the 3rd winter in a row. Ride my Helix to work in the summer. It gets 62 mpg and gives me time to do maintenance on the 7 which it badly needs.

During my last two years of college and the following brief period of bachelorhood, I drove my Spitfire year-round. The thing was great in snow - I think it rode on top of the snow rather than sank down in it. The only problem was the windshield "defroster" - it never got hot enough to melt any ice, and the fog from my breath would freeze along the inside of the windshield. I had to drive with one hand and either scrape with the other or hold my palm against the glass to melt the ice.

Hopefully all newer electronic devices (except maybe a turned-off cell phone - in the trunk).
Also rear wings, coffee can exhaust,& loud obnoxious stereos.

- Doug

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gifIn general, the original floor. In a Stag, the original motor! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Least likely to find IN a Triumph? OIL .... but you will plenty under them.

I drove my TR4 through the winter. I probably averaged two days a week driving it to work. The item you're least likely to find in my Triumph is a top. It hasn't been on (or even in) the car since the summer of 2004 (when I had to put it on for a car show).
