If so, it is being 'sold' on ebay.

Yet another scam, I warrant. The seller registered with ebay yesterday, says he can't get ebay messages because his 'email is full', is supposed to be based in Kamloops, BC (where to my knowledge NO palm trees grow), and is selling a fully restored, numbers-matching, early-years Corvette for $10k.

Pardon me for introducing a Corvette to this forum, but this kind of photo-ripoff seems to happen now with every make. Every now and again I check the Triumph listings to see if I can spot a forum members car. Anybody spotted their own vehicle for sale recently?

Not a British car, but I found my Ferrari listed on ebay this summer. They'd snatched some photos and even some old sales patter the previous owner still had up on the web. It even got bid up a bit more than it was worth before I reported it and got the auction pulled.

Why didn't you wait to see what it fetched?

I saw a Big Healey offered for sale on US e-bay, supposedly in Scotland. With palm trees in the background. And the sunshine was really suspicious, too. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

Never did get a reply to my request to go and see it...

Very disappointed, I was.... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

LOL, yeah I though about that. But it was misrepresented anyway. The scammer said it was in perfect condition, just freshly restored. And that's far from the truth. It actually was kind of a beater when I got it and I've spent plenty getting it back into shape.

Are you going to treat us to a photo of the Ferrari? *everyone* likes photos of Ferraris!

Well... since you asked. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Coincidentally, I just got a request for a picture of my Spit over on the Ferrari forums. I'm learning that there's actually quite a few people who own both a Ferrari and a Triumph. In fact, whenever I take my car to my mechanic (one of the few dedicated Ferrari mechanics in the area), I can't get him to shut up about his TR3. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Isn't that a "Magnum, PI" model?

Nice ride......

Well, the short answer is yes. The long answer is probably only interesting to Ferrari or Magnum enthusiasts. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Thanks! She's definitely a blast. Always wanted one since I was a kid, but the Triumphs still hold the center place in my heart.

Nice looking 308: I believe its a 308; Is it not?

I also believe "Magnums" Ferrari was a replica but I may be wrong?

Relative to the ebay scammer; He was hot and heavy into Brit cars about 2mo. ago: Same typical notes: Email Full etc etc:

I guess he (She) are trying to get into the Classic Car Muscle era now!

This one won`t last long: Wonder where he`ll appear next?

Regards, Russ

Yes, you've got it right. (See my sig /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif )

Ok, I'll give a little more detail: There were a total of about 20 different cars used during the run of Magnum PI. The first season used a set of 1979 carburetted cars. The next few seasons used a set of 1980 2-valve fuel injected cars. And the final few seasons used a set of 1985 4-valve fuel injected cars. Most of the cars were US spec cars, but in a few episodes you can see the car in the shot is a European spec car. In fact, in one sequence in a fifth season episode the car keeps switching between a US car and a Euro car with each shot. There's also an episode which features a second, green Ferrari. That one also seems to suffer from the US/Euro schizophrenia during the episode.

Within each set of cars, there was at least one that was in really nice condition that they used for close up shots, one car that had no windshield for shooting front on into the passenger compartment shots, and the rest that were a bit more run down so that they could be used for stunts and such and not be too worried about.

There were also few replicas used in the show. In one episode the Ferrari is wrecked and destroyed by fire. In the shot of the car burning, you can see it's actually a Fiero. There's also a car still sitting on a Universal back lot in LA that is supposedly a replica that was used on the show.

The rumor goes that Universal first approached Porsche to feature their cars, but Porsche wouldn't cut them any deals. So they tried Ferrari, who were happy to loan cars, sell at a discount, whatever. And the rest is history.

Wasn't the Ferrari in Ferris Bueller an MG with a body kit?

I'm not quite as up on Ferris Bueller, but yes that one was definitely a replica of a Ferrari 250GT. If I remember correctly however, only the boot lid was from an MGB.

If I remember correctly the 365GTB Spyder used in Miami Vice was a Corvette with a body kit.

Thought it was his dad's Porsche 928

Wrecking that wouldn't have had quite the effect as ruining a rare multi-million dollar Ferrari. Even though I knew it was a fake, that scene made me physically ill when I saw it. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/sick.gif
