Spitfire Is this true?!

So I've read in numerous articles that the 75 and 76 spits have higher compression than the 1500 before and after those dates. Is this true? How is it that the 1980 model is faster 0-60 than the 76? I have a pic to go with this post but don't know how to attach it. Help?
 
Not sure about compression ratios; perhaps someone will chime in here pretty soon.

Regarding posting pictures, there are a couple of ways to do that. You can either post a link to a storage website like Photobucket or Flickr, or if the picture is stored on your computer (and its file isn't too large) you can click on the link above the area where you type your message on the icon between the filmstrip-looking one and the globe with the red X. It will take you to an Insert Image box where you can browse from your computer, or use a URL link to the picture.

But what is the source of their data? The 1980 Spitfire numbers might have come from a UK publication of a dual-SU-carb UK-spec. car, which would be rather different than the emissions-ladened "Federal" single-Stromberg-carb 1980 Spitfire.

I think I read somewhere that the suspension improved in the later 1500's?

The big change / improvement came for the MkIV in 1971 with the rear "swing spring"; a further but less significant change occurred in 1973 when the rear track was widened by 2".
