This head is off a 1970 TR6 that has sat for almost 40 years. Seats are very corroded and wondering if it's possible to install new seats and what kind of costs am I getting into? This was/is going to be a back up head for my 69 and possibly my TR250 if not too costly to fix.

Call up your local auto machine shop and ask how much to replace 12 seats. The inserts are around $10-$15 each, but I'm guessing the labor will be in the neighborhood of $300. So maybe $500 plus whatever else it needs (valves, guides, springs, etc)

I spent over $800.00 to have my head done (the TR6 not mine) here in CT. Replaced a couple of exhaust valves as part of the job. Everything costs more around here.

If my wife found out I spent $800 on my cars head I'm sure I'll need a lot more then that to fix mine. This head was going to be a back up head for my 69 TR6 project or my TR250 if god forbid I ever crack a head. Both heads are at the machine shop right now and I've got almost $500 into my 69 head right now. So not thinking I want to spend that kinda of money right now to have it sit around. Probably just have it checked for cracks and if it's ok I'll oil it down and keep it until I need it. If it's junk I do need another boat anchor .
