I left for work this morning around 7AM.Figured since it was
New Year's Day,& it was a Saturday,that there wouldn't be much
traffic on the road,& wouldn't get stuck at Red lights.
WRONG!! - I think I hit EVERY Red light. This is on one of the
main roads,& a few times there were no cars on the side roads. It
was the same thing on the way home.
I think there's something on my truck that turns the lights
Yellow,about 1/2 a block before I get there.My Wife has the opposite
experience - Every light seems to be Green for her, unless I'm driving
her car,or riding with her.

You do not realize how much trouble the traffic engineers go to ensuring that if you leave a set of traffic lights as they turn green the next set will be red no matter what speed you drive between lights.

In London they said that if you drove the speed limit the lights should be going green as you reached them. That was the plan anyway. Did not always work.

I have come to belive that the traffic light system somehow knows how big of a hurry I'm in. If I need to be somewhere at a certain time, and I'm running behind, I will hit every single red light! If I have all the time in the world and am driving somewhere and in no big hurry, I hit every green light!

And all the bathrooms at work.... 5 story building, 2 men's rooms / floor so at least 10 main men's rooms in one building (and 10 more ladies rooms)... how on earth do they succeed in closing all of them exactly when needed?

Methinks Mr. Murphy's working overtime...

Those of you who have spent time in Pittsburgh probably know the lights on Forbes and Fifth by University of Pittsburgh. They are timed exactly at 25 mph. It forces you to drive the speed limit in an area with a lot of pedestrians. More entertaining, if you are at the front of the line you can really freak out (out-of-town) passengers who think you are running a red light (only to have it turn green in the nick of time).

Heard a traffic flow engineer being interviewed on the local radio one day. among his statements he said about traffic lights that part of his job was to make it frustrating to drive so that people would stop using cars and move to public transportation.

Yes it is... It is the only town I know of where three lefts does not get you back where you started... you may end up at the same lat/longitude, but at a different altitude!

A college classmate is a comedian, and made a wonderful bit on "Yinzer (Pittsburgh) GPS":

I've noticed i drive the 45mph speed limit with cruise on.. sure enough, the light changes just as I get there and pass the guys that sped around me earlier.
