Is this an MG fan?

Hey MG Guys from TR-land,
Can you identify this fan? I bought some used parts sight-unseen and this was advertised as a Triumph "tropical" fan for the TRactor cars. It does not match the one that I already have. One of the guys on the Triumph forum said this might be an MG (MGA?) fan.
Thanks,
Jeremy

MGB six-blade metal fan has cutouts like that.

Roadster from 138401 to 306256.
GT from 139472 to 309325.

Looks like a "B" fan to me.

Yup. Me too.

Got one of those hanging on the pegboard in my shop from our '73 B. Replaced with the plastic one, as I didn't want one of those "knives" flying through the bonnet when the metal gave way!

I think it's more likely the PLASTIC unit would come apart FAR sooner than that riveted monster! Tho the load on waterpump bushings would be a LOT less.

Didn't Steve S. have a metal bladed fan let loose and go through the bonnet of one of his cars? Anomaly?

That might be true, although I have never heard of one of the plastic fans flying apart, while I HAVE heard of several of the metal fans coming apart. Even if the plastic fan was to fail, the blade is light enough that it is not going to do much damage if it does fly off. Also, the plastic fans are not full of rivets, which produce stress risers through each and ever hole they are placed in. It is for just those reasons that I put the plastic fans in both our MGB and TD.
Cheers,

I did have a 6-blade steel fan let go of one blade, but it didn't do any damage, fortunately.

A few years ago, at the Townsend, TN car show, there was a car with part of a fan blade sticking through the hood....
