Is there such a car as

an Austin Healey Sprint? I own a MG, and some guy saw my car and we started talking. He said he had a Sprint? I have obviously heard of a Sprite, so the question is, is there such an animal? He said it was a 63' and hes looking to sell it. Not sure what kind of price range we are looking at. Mechanically, I am not sure. It hasnt been run in years, and he said it has a little rust. Kind of ball park a car in 5 condition all the way to 1...
Thanks,

Newkie

Art: Nope, no "AH Sprint".
But, if you let me know where it's at, I'll be happy to drive over and take a look at it! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Back in the 60/70's honda, toyota et al were bringing out things like these, could be an import with a different name to what the local market calls 'em

Hello Newkie,

the only British Sprint I know is the Triumph Dolomite Sprint, which is a 16 valve 2 Litre engined sedan with an engine basically shared with the TR7 but with more power.

Thanks guys...
I didnt think so, but I am not an AH guy, so I wanted to make sure.(google didnt find such a beast either) He will be bringing some pictures by in the next few weeks, and I will post them if its not obvious to what it is. He does want to sell the car, and I got the feeling that he doesnt really know what its worth. Meaning to me, it could probably be had, cheaper than the average AH owner would sell one for.
It sounded like he just wanted it gone. He had a corvette and old p/u he wants to restore, so this is probably not his love. (British cars that is) So with that said, I will either have him come aboard to post his car to sell, or I will take the reins, and post it for him.
Thanks again for answering my post so quick.

And why the Dolly Sprint motor never went into the TR7 still baffles me!

Supposedly BL did install the Sprint engine into the TR7 for about 16 cars. Otherwise, several people have done it on their own. Still not quite as popular as converting a TR7 to a TR7V8 but is done often enough.

The Sprint-engined TR7 program was dropped when they moved production of the TR7. There are still a few genuine ones around.

Could it be that HE was confused and actually has a SPRITE but thinks he has a Sprint???

Tell you what I will do though. If and when this guy comes back with some pictures, I will post them so you guys can see it if its an AH. Like I said, it doesnt sound like you would be overpaying for this car. He just wants it gone from his overcrowded stable.
