...than fresh-baked miniature mince pies, prepared by a British lady?

One of our members is a Brit and just dropped off a bag of 'em. Enjoying a couple as I type - YUMMY!

Now, where'd I put that rum...?

No there isn't. Ihad to make an emergeny run into Houston last week to the British Isles store -'Er indoors had run our of mincemeat!

I am the only one in my family that likes the stuff. All the others think there is meat in it and think it is yucky.

I rather like this part from Wikipedia:

A 16th century recipe
Pyes of mutton or beif must be fyne mynced & seasoned with pepper and salte and a lytel saffron to colour it / suet or marrow a good quantitie / a lytell vynegre / pruynes / great reasons / and dates / take the fattest of the broath of powdred beefe. And if you will have paest royall / take butter and yolkes of egges & so to temper the floure to make the paest.

Perhaps this was from Ye Better Olde Homes and Gardens?

Forsooth and anon will we feast upon yon pyes!

Well, you know what they say: "You are what you..."

No, wait!
