Is there a difference in shock mounts?

I will be renewing my entire front suspension this winter. My question is. Is there a difference in the frame mounting holes (alignment pattern) Between older shocks and newer BJs. Specifically there are different part numbers listed for the following:

3000 MKII, BJ7, BJ8 1962-1964 to ch. 26704

3000 BJ8 from 1964

Why do I ask? Some )(*&(^%#&^*( previous owner had one side as BJ* and the other original on my 1960 BT7. He did something to the top shock mounting plate (amaturish replacement/repair)on the one side. I have already replaced the spindle and everything outward to be correct but never considered that he would actually cut and weld to save the cost of a proper replacement shock.

I have the replacement top mounting plate and intend to cut out the freakish welded top plate now on it.

Amazing, most of my work has been undoing what this yoyo did to the car. I just want to know if he replaced it because it was rusted and he just did a **** poor job, or he did it because he refused to buy the new shock.

I can't say what the yoyo did 'cause I wasn't there, but one quite common problem is that the bolts holding the shock tend to come loose (What? bolts on a LBC come loose?) and the captive nuts become stripped, or that top plate peels off. Either way, that top plate gets replaced. Obviously done badly.

In the back of the 100-6/3000 repair manual is a diagram of frame measurements. Suggest looking at that for proper location of the new plate. Also, use lock washers, Lock-tite and maybe lock wire when you bolt down the shocks.
